Teawood Deluxe is not just a restaurant, it's a manifestation of a dream. Vincent Chi-Wai Chiang found inspiration in the intricate workings of a Memorigin watch, a realm of fantasy where every component works in harmony. The design reflects this harmony, with every element contributing to a seamless dining experience.
What sets Teawood Deluxe apart is its unique blend of romantic mystery and extravagance. The design was born from a collaboration with the Hong Kong Watches Brand Memorigin, which frequently holds product launches in the restaurant. As a result, the design needed to be versatile, catering to both leisure and event hosting needs.
The restaurant's realization is a marvel of design and technology. A large luminous clock, made of wood and metal, graces the center of the ceiling. The lighting system is higher than in typical restaurants to accommodate different occasions. Movable Roman Numeral Screens on the walls serve as beautiful, changeable backdrops, adding to the restaurant's versatility.
Despite its grandeur, the design faced several challenges. A significant one was a large air duct next to the ceiling clock. The solution was ingenious: hide the duct behind two cogwheels, seamlessly integrating it into the restaurant's theme. Another challenge was the low ceiling of the VIP rooms. The solution was a curved design, making the room unique and reducing spatial pressure.
The project, which spanned from November 2018 to April 2019, was a study in balance and change. The design had to be sustainable for the restaurant's daily operations, yet flexible enough to accommodate different events. The result is a venue that not only showcases the characteristics of two brands but also provides a unique dining experience.
In conclusion, Teawood Deluxe is a testament to Vincent Chi-Wai Chiang's creativity and technical prowess. It's a design that tells a story, where guests dine in a watch mechanism beyond imagination. It's a design that has earned its accolades, a shining example of innovation in the realm of interior design.
